At REaKTOR, we’re all about fueling the fire of innovation right here in Hampton Roads, Virginia. As your go-to hub for entrepreneurial growth, we celebrate the bold visionaries who turn ideas into impact—and today, we’re spotlighting VroomBrick, a homegrown proptech powerhouse that’s been accelerating full throttle since its inception. Founded in 2023 by Leland Remias, a decorated veteran Naval Officer and Virginia Tech alum (class of 2017) who recently wrapped up his MBA at William & Mary, VroomBrick is on a mission to democratize homeownership. Their intuitive web and mobile platform guides users through buying or selling homes without traditional agents, slashing commissions and empowering everyday folks—starting with military families but expanding to make real estate accessible for all.
What started as a spark of an idea just two years ago has evolved into a testament to consistent pursuit and strategic grit. We’ve watched VroomBrick’s journey unfold firsthand, from securing early support as one of our portfolio companies to leveraging regional accelerators like Lighthouse and 757 Accelerate. As part of Cohort 8 in their 9-week investor-readiness program, VroomBrick snagged a $20,000 non-dilutive grant, invaluable mentorship, and connections to global networks. This culminated in a triumphant win at the Hampton Roads Startup Celebration on June 19, 2025, hosted by 757 Collab at Nauticus in Norfolk. Amid over 150 attendees—including founders, investors, and community leaders—VroomBrick clinched the Community Choice Award, voted on by the audience for their pitch that promises to revolutionize the real estate game. Sharing the stage with innovative peers like Enrichly (edtech), Earnest Agriculture (agtech), PopCheck Technologies (healthcare), Knope (consumer awareness), and Healthy Hip Hop (health tech), VroomBrick’s victory underscored the vibrant synergy in our local ecosystem.
But this isn’t just a one-off win; it’s the latest milestone in VroomBrick’s upward trajectory. Building on support from the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC) Technology Commercialization Grant, they’ve scaled their platform to automate processes, provide knowledge resources, and lower barriers to entry. Leland himself called the recognition “surreal” in a heartfelt LinkedIn post, crediting mentors and the 757 Collab team for their unwavering belief. And let’s not forget their feature on Distrupting the Tide, where they showcased the company’s story.
For our REaKTOR community—entrepreneurs, investors, and dreamers alike—this story is a blueprint for success. VroomBrick’s progress highlights how our region’s collaborative spirit, from accelerators to grants, can propel startups from concept to celebration. It means more opportunities for you: whether you’re a founder seeking mentorship, an investor eyeing proptech gems, or a military family navigating homeownership, VroomBrick’s tools save thousands while fostering equity. Their journey inspires us all to pursue relentlessly, proving that in Hampton Roads, innovation isn’t just happening—it’s thriving.
